Cracked Roof Tile Repair
Most unsuccessful roof tile repairs are done without removal of the broken tile.
Cracked roof tile repair. To replace the underlayment 1 you will need to remove and replace the tiles on your whole roof. When a tile on your roof breaks all you will have to do is remove the broken piece or pieces and slot in a brand new tile. Squeeze out a dollop of wood glue onto the crack on your tile. In areas where the crack has led to a full horizontal or vertical break it is unwise to use adhesive to fix the crack.
Underlayment 1 costs approximately 61 per square excluding labor. The solution in this instance is most likely replacement. Wood glue will expand and contract without losing its adhesion to the tile. Apply it directly on top of the cracked area and push it down into the crack with your finger or a putty knife thus capping the void and the leak.
Clean the surface of the tile with a rag soaked. It is lazy and it will leave another part of the roof exposed. Vulnerable areas include roof valleys and areas of penetration. 3 spread a small amount of roofing cement along the underside of the replacement and slide it into place.
If your roof area is approximately 1500 sq ft it will cost approximately 5400 to 7660 including labor to do this repair. 2 break the faulty tile and remove the pieces. Repairing broken roofing tile instead of replacing means that the pieces can be glued together. However as a short term solution where you do not have access to a fresh tile you can repair the cracked tile with roofing cement or silicone caulking.

Use your finger or a chopstick to smear the wood glue lengthwise across any parts of the crack larger than 1 millimetre 0 039 in across. This means that while the roof tile does not leak as bad it still leaks. This means that the visible crack is siliconed up but the all important drainage course that is hidden under the lap is left broken and un sealed.
